Kretzer mansion

In a picturesque setting just 11 km from the municipality's headquarters, in the Rural Community of Santa Filomena, you will find a historic treasure: the Kretzer mansion. Built in 1920, this mansion was home to Germano Antônio Kretzer and Filomena Koerich Kretzer. An architectural jewel that transcends its rural location, the mansion is an important testimony of the past that left an indelible mark on São Pedro de Alcântara. 

Casa Kretzer is not just a residence; it was part of a comprehensive architectural complex that included a trading house, warehouse, ballroom, inn for drovers and even a bowling court. The property was designed by the renowned German architect Oskar von Blumenstrit, highlighting its historical and cultural value. 

Inside, the mansion had a warehouse that housed shelves and a service desk, all meticulously carved in carved wood. This space served not only the needs of the Kretzer family, but also served as a meeting place for local residents and for the drovers who stayed overnight while doing their business. 

House Kretzer is more than a physical structure; it is a portal to the past. Although the mansion is currently privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside, it still carries with it the city's vibrant history.
