About the attraction

São Pedro de Alcântara is an unmissable destination for anyone who wants to learn about the history of the first European settlers on Santa Catarina soil. Founded in 1829, the city was the first settler farming village in the region, with an initial population of 652 people. Today, it is a picturesque and welcoming town, full of charm and charming architecture.

One of the city's main attractions is the Main Church, a work of great beauty that houses several well-crafted sacred images. With a carved wooden altar and a high dome, the church is a true architectural treasure. Located on an elevation, the church offers a privileged view of the entire city center.

The church is also an important historical landmark, having been inaugurated in 1929, on the occasion of the Colony's Centenary celebrations. The matrix was restored in 1979 and is open daily for visitors. The parish priests who served the city over the years are buried in the church courtyard.

In addition to the Main Church, São Pedro de Alcântara also has many other tourist attractions, such as museums, ecological trails and cultural festivals. It is a city full of history, culture and natural beauty, which deserves a visit for anyone looking to discover the roots of European colonization in Santa Catarina.

Tip: O Path of Troops It is an unmissable tourist spot. This section, which was built in 1787, preserves two historical monuments: Pedra das Letras and the section paved with rough stones.
