A Buraca Waterfall trail is a true treasure hidden in the heart of Serra de São Miguel Municipal Natural Park. Created in 2017 by Law No. 3,752, the park is managed by the Municipal Environmental Foundation of Biguaçu (FAMABI) and covers the neighborhoods of Saudade, Prado, São Miguel and Tijuquinhas, totaling an area of 1,226 hectares belonging to the Atlantic Forest Biome.
The Conservation Unit aims to preserve and recover the remnants of the biome and its associated ecosystems, in addition to protecting water resources and promoting scientific research and environmental education.
The Cachoeira da Buraca trail is one of the park's attractions and is ideal for nature and adventure lovers. With an exuberant beauty, the trail leads to a beautiful waterfall that has a pool of crystal clear, shallow waters, perfect for swimming.
The trail begins near the CASAN Water Treatment Station (ETA), in the São Miguel neighborhood. It is located in the northeast region of the Park, and is 1.29 km long.
It was a trail commonly used by illegal hunters, and after the creation of the Park, it began to be used by FAMABI and agents from the Military Environmental Police for environmental inspection and monitoring of wildlife.
