A Matadeiro Beach It is located in the south of Santa Catarina Island, bordering the Peri Lagoon's spillway channel to the north.

The name is believed to stem from the fact that the location was used for whaling during the period when whaling was permitted in the country.

Today the beach is used for the entry of fishing boats and access to the rocky shores for fishing or diving.

The beach is excellent for surfing, and whale watching is common during the months of July to November. An excellent way to observe the whales and the local landscape is to walk to Ponta das Campanhas, formerly known as Ponta das Companhias de Pesca de Baleia (Whale Fishing Companies Point).
