Welcome to the majestic Santana Fort, A historic landmark strategically located in the heart of Florianópolis, Santa Catarina. Built in 1761, this imposing fort is a living witness to past eras and the battles fought to protect the Village of Nossa Senhora do Desterro. With panoramic views of the stunning North and South bays, the Santana Fort offers a unique experience that combines fascinating history with breathtaking landscapes.

Imagine yourself immersed in the pages of history during the Armada Revolts and the Federalist Revolution, when this fort bravely exchanged fire with rebel squadrons that defied the established order. Its walls still tell the stories of the cannon fire and the tense moments that shaped the region's destiny. Among these memories, the bombardment by the cruiser República stands out, leaving deep marks on the fort's structures.

After years of transformations, the Santana Fort has found a new purpose as a haven of knowledge and culture. Since 1975, it has proudly housed the Major Lara Ribas Military Police Weapons Museum, a rich and diverse collection of historical artifacts. Here, you will find everything from antique weapons that have withstood the test of time to precious pieces collected by Major Lara Ribas between 1938 and 1945. As you stroll through the museum's rooms, you will be captivated by the stories told through replicas of uniforms, evocative photographs, and honorable insignia. The museum is currently closed for renovations, and only external visits are possible!

For those with a curious mind, a touch of mystery awaits. There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that Ensign Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, better known as Tiradentes, a key figure in the Minas Gerais Conspiracy, served here between 1777 and 1779. During that time, he acted as an officer sent by the Portuguese court to reinforce the defenses of Santa Catarina Island against potential Spanish invasions. The mystique of this historical connection adds an extra layer of fascination to the already intriguing Fort Santana.
