A MONSTRAS – Film and Art Festival for Children and Monsters arrives at its second edition inviting children and adults to look at monsters, real or imaginary, with more curiosity, imagination, and creativity. For three days, the festival takes over the Integrated Culture Center (CIC), in Florianópolis, with a free program dedicated to cinema, art, and the myriad ways of experiencing childhood.
The programming brings together film screenings, shows, debates, and meetings among children, artists, and filmmakers. The curation features works made by, for, and with children, addressing themes such as Fantasy, nature, friendship, diversity, dreams and the mysteries that are part of the children's universe. The festival also features theater and music performances for different age groups, including activities designed especially for early childhood.
A MONSTER was born in 2022, during the pandemic, in an online format, and returns in 2026 in its first in-person edition, expanding the dialogue between Cinema, popular culture, and childhood. The event is organized by Flor do Vento, with support from Usina da Imaginação and funding from the Fundação Catarinense de Cultura, through the Lei Paulo Gustavo. An excellent option for families wishing to enjoy Florianópolis with a cultural, sensitive, and creative program.
