Kretzer Mansion

In a picturesque setting just 11 km from the town center, in the rural community of Santa Filomena, you will find a historical treasure: the Kretzer Mansion. Built in 1920, this mansion was the home of Germano Antônio Kretzer and Filomena Koerich Kretzer. An architectural gem that transcends its rural location, the mansion is an important testament to the past that left an indelible mark on São Pedro de Alcântara. 

The Kretzer House is not just a residence; it was part of a comprehensive architectural complex that included a trading house, warehouse, ballroom, inn for muleteers, and even a bowling alley. The property was designed by the renowned German architect Oskar von Blumenstrit, highlighting its historical and cultural value. 

Inside, the mansion featured a warehouse that housed shelves and a service counter, all meticulously carved from handcrafted wood. This space not only met the needs of the Kretzer family but also served as a meeting point for local residents and muleteers who stayed overnight while conducting their trade. 

Casa Kretzer is more than just a physical structure; it's a portal to the past. Although the mansion is currently privately owned and can only be viewed from the outside, it still carries with it the vibrant history of the city.
