Municipal Park of Lagoa do Peri, which covers an area of 2,030 hectares of conservation unit and a 20.3 km² watershed, is one of the main ecosystems in the preservation and regeneration stage of the original Atlantic Forest.

The park is a breeding ground for typical animals, such as the otter and the capuchin monkey, as well as being a refuge for endangered birds, such as the blue jay.
