A Itaguaçu Beach It's one of the most beautiful seascapes in Florianópolis, and it's not hard to see why!
With a name derived from Tupi-Guarani, meaning "large stone head in the water," the unfolding scenery is exactly that: many stones of various sizes, scattered throughout the stretch of beach, forming a unique and stunning view.
Located on the mainland part of the city, Itaguaçu Beach is a bay beach with a strip of yellowish sand and clear, calm waters that resemble a lake. The beach is surrounded by squares and has excellent leisure infrastructure, with many bars and restaurants that attract locals and visitors.
Despite its impeccable infrastructure, it's important to point out that, being an urban beach, its waters are not suitable for swimming.
Extending for 670 meters and varying in width from 3 to 20 meters, Itaguaçu Beach belongs to the main district and is located just 4 km from the city center. It's a perfect spot for a daytime or nighttime stroll, to appreciate the view and enjoy the excellent local cuisine.
Don't forget to also visit Praia das Palmeiras (adjacent), the Mirante da Praia das Palmeiras viewpoint (right side of the beach), and Praia do Bom Abrigo.
Parking information: If you're driving, you can count on free parking options along almost the entire coastline.
