Located in the picturesque District of Ribeirão da Ilha, The beach stretches from the Gruta Stream to the Seu Rita Stream, being divided into two sections, the larger and more important one being the residential area. Although swimming in the beach's waters is not recommended, the sand is clean and light-colored, providing a pleasant environment for walking and leisure.

During colonization, Ribeirão da Ilha Beach housed a port for loading and unloading provisions and people, and fishing was the main economic activity in the region for over two centuries. Colonized by Azoreans, the beach became one of the most beautiful parishes on Santa Catarina Island, becoming an important historical and cultural point for the region. With a total length of 750 meters and a width varying from 2 to 15 meters, Ribeirão da Ilha Beach is an ideal place for leisure activities, as well as being one of the main gastronomic centers of the Island and one of the main oyster producers in Brazil.

The name “Ribeirão da Ilha” comes from a small stream that originates in Morro da Cabeça do Macaco, the highest peak on the island, at 630 meters high, and flows into Canto do Rio, about 3 km north of the main square of Ribeirão da Ilha.
