Its shy behavior and nocturnal activity make it difficult to spot in the wild, which makes it even more special when seen up close.

The importance of the otter is not limited to its ecological role. It also has great economic and social importance, with many local communities benefiting from conservation tourism. In fact, the IUCN has a specialized group, the Otter Specialist Group, dedicated to this species.
