Santo Amaro da Imperatriz celebrates, from May 22-25, the traditional Feast of the Divine Holy Spirit, one of the most important religious and cultural manifestations in the region. Originating in Alenquer, Portugal, at the initiative of Queen Saint Elizabeth in 1226, devotion to the Divine [Holy Spirit] has spanned generations and arrived in Brazil with strong influence from Azorean immigrants, becoming part of the municipality's cultural and spiritual identity.
The program brings together moments of faith, tradition, and fellowship, with novena, masses, imperial processions, Flag Procession, performances by the Santo Amaro Philharmonic Band, musical shows, typical gastronomy, bar and kitchen service, Divine bakery and pastry shop. It is a celebration that involves the community and enchants visitors with its symbolic strength, history, and popular participation.
More than a religious event, the Feast of the Holy Spirit is an opportunity to experience local culture in a family-friendly, welcoming, and meaningful environment. During the festival days, residents and tourists can witness traditions preserved for generations and enjoy a diverse program in the center of Santo Amaro da Imperatriz.
